Influenced By

Hello! So in this post I will be talking about some of my favorite authors and how they inspired me to write like I do.

First we have, C.S. Lewis. Known for the Chronicles of Narnia. Great books if you never read them! I read these way back when I was in elementary school and this is how I got turned on to Mythology and fantasy fiction in general. His writing style is clear and basically a no-brainier to understand, which is why The Chronicles of Narnia are basically children's books, however, I will still bring them out every once in a while and read them again.

J.R.R. Tolkien! Now this guy is a genius. Best known for Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. The Hobbit is more suitable for younger ages because of its lighter tone, still a great book though! The Lord of the Rings is a very complex book series. But its complex in a fantastic way. Tolkien created his own language! Just think about that. He invented a language. His books are fantastic and he is a great inspiration to me.

J.K. Rowling. Best known for Harry Potter. You can probably notice a trend forming by now, I bet. Fantasy is what I do. J.K. Rowling, I absolutely love the way she writes. The world she created is purely amazing. (The books are better than the movies!) I really love her characters. Not just who they are, but how she wrote them. The many different personalities. For example, Voldemort is the series villain, but I liked him a lot. He was cool villain with a goal that was similar to Magneto in X-Men. So it was cool. I liked him. The villain I couldn't stand was Professor Umbridge. In the films she's annoying enough to where you get the idea, but in the books -  you really want to kill her! That's some amazing writing right there! When you, the reader, want to kill a character in the book.

George R.R. Martin. Best known for Game of Thrones. This guy is definitely up there with Tolkien! The world he created is amazing and not to mention he created languages too! He took mixtures of different languages and created a new one. That's a lot of work right there, but so amazing! His fantasy world gave me tons of inspiration. The dark tone in his books is really cool and something that's not really expressed in a lot of books. But I really like it, it makes it realistic. And speaking of really hating a character! Geoffrey and Ramsey! Am I right??

I've also noticed while writing this article that everyone I've named so far has initials in along with their names. Wonder if I should do that? Tim L. Routledge. Or T.L. Routledge. I don't know! Leave your suggestions in the comments!

Continuing on! Joseph Delaney. Best known for The Last Apprentice series (Seventh Son). I've only just started to read his books, but so far they're fantastic. Magic is hard to include into fantasy at times. But I think he did a really great job with it. So far I'm loving the books!

Christopher Paolini. Best known for the Inheritance Cycle series. This guy wrote his books when he was younger than me and was very successful. How can he not give me inspiration?? Plus gotta say that I absolutely adore any awesome books about dragons, GOT included! His books are a mixture of everything awesome and I love his books.

Well there you have it! Those are my inspiration authors. Hope you enjoyed!
